Talk about lineage. The poster was drawn by a woman householder who lived in poverty, the poster became a cult hit, and she happily found a way out of the kitchen to provide for her family.
Talk about roots. How amazing are all the women-centered philanthropic sustainable initiatives in Mama Africa? Here may be the rebirth place of the new world economic leaders.
I imagine the "housework" of a juggling woman like Mama Africa includes skateboarding. It's a frantic planet, hosting both horrific carnage and exquisite beauty at the same time. Gliding and balancing is a must.
I made Mama Africa's blouse of hand-dyed upholstery fabric sculpted to be form-fitting, with a lining of hot pink silk. The neckline is wide and can be worn many ways and there is a matching skirt.* For skateboarding, Mama wears it with leggings made from a pattern found in the Bilder Atlas, a 19th century encyclopedia of ornament. It matches the populations of the planet she is surfing on.
