One October day, uptown and downtown, three NYC dames were rockin' pumpkin orange to my astonishment and delight.
I saw the first in the morning light on Park Avenue. With the aura of a famed actress in her 70's a woman in a tailored pumpkin boucle suit was being walked by her male companion. All was in order from her bowed head in a neat hat to her bronze kitten heels.
The second was jaywalking Bond Street in the warm October mid-day, sporting a classic French striped T in pumpkin and white with bright ochre linen Bermuda shorts and flat white Converse sneakers. Because she was conversing the street and also her phone, of course.
Number three nearly made me fall off the downtown Soho curb where I was happily chatting on my phone around 6pm. In a flash, a woman sailed by on her bike, a huge, gorgeous mohair blanket coat in pumpkin, yellows and harvest colors...a spectacle from her tall canvas, coiled turban to her Birkenstocks.
I love that my eye connected these 3 in spirit. 3 women in the vast sea of Manhattan, a glimpse of why the street style offers such beauty in an instant.
